The GIGS Inter Institutional conference also known as GIGS Education and Career conference is a programme designed at GIGS Ltd, and first launched at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA) Ondo State, Nigeria. The conference is to help recruit undergraduate and graduates' students into the GIGS Career and Mentoring Academy. GIGS inter institutional conference assist participants to gather information, and to explore the present and future local and international career opportunities. The career conference would also enable participants learn their own skills, new innovations, trending skills, and new options to take up new opportunities. It is an eye opener for undergraduates and graduates looking for work experience opportunities, job placements and Scholarships. This would be an opportunity for participants to get ready for what next to do, preparations and anticipation for a new beginning. We envision this as an excellent opportunity for networking, knowledge- sharing, and exposure to new opportunities locally and intentionally. In today's rapidly evolving global landscape, the importance of international exposure and opportunities cannot be overstated. However, there exists a challenge in ensuring equitable access to such experiences for all students, educators, and institutions. Disparities in resources, networks, and awareness often hinder individuals and educational institutions from fully capitalizing on the benefits of international exposure. As we strive to prepare students/participants for an interconnected world, this conference aims to address the barriers and devise strategies to enhance access to international opportunities, fostering more inclusive and globally competent educational environment. The conference shall offer several benefits to the participants., most importantly gaining a broader perspective of ways of thinking, fostering career awareness and adaptability. Additionally, exposure to diverse trending skills, expand professional skills, and provide a competitive edge in a competitive globalized job market. It can also contribute to personal growth, boosting self-confidence and opening new avenues for collaboration and innovation.
The GIGS Career & Mentoring academy is an organized system designed to explore different professions, careers and employability areas, to connect with relevant professionals to build effective career networks and develop diverse work- related skills and confidence in a globally competitive job market. This program will also support, inspire, and enables our mentees to develop trending skills that would set them apart in the workplace and improve their career prospects. Through completing our programme, mentees could grow their confidence, build their professional networks and refine their employability skills. The GIGS career & mentoring academy shall be welcoming two mentoring intake each year. All our mentees would have the opportunity of direct access to GIGS Bench of Scholars. These are mentors, experienced professionals and scholars who work in a variety of roles and industries around the world. They can help you to reach your personal and professional goals and objectives by providing you with realistic advice, support, and opportunities to develop and grow. The Career & Mentoring Academy is open to all students in their third year and above (including postgraduates) as well as recent graduates from the last three years.
Examples of industries that our mentors would come from includes Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Architecture, Property and Construction, Business and Finance, Charity, Voluntary and Non-Profits, Civil Service and Government, Computing and Information Technology, Education and Teaching, Health and Social Care, Law and Legal Services, Marketing, Advertising and PR, Media and Publishing, Sciences and Research etc.
