The growing population of unemployed graduates with academic qualifications and professional certifications is worrisome leading to low Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as this is also evident in the productivity and standard of living of the growing population. An employed graduate is a productive workforce, having in mind that by putting into use his intellectual and academic skills would yield a positive result thereby contributing to the overall development of the country.

Skilled jobs are jobs that require experience, education, special skill, training (professional and on the job courses), knowledge and ability which then can be applied on the job and in any specific role. Acquiring educational skill maybe through attending college, university or technical school, or through an apprenticeship program, or may have been learned on the job or may have been highly trained professionally in a specific field.

Getting a skilled job abroad could be challenging and could be less challenging. It could be challenging because it might be difficult to quickly get organizations that recruit international workers, the recruitment process and the complexity of the immigration process of your destination country. It might be less challenging if you have all necessary qualifications and certifications highlighted in the job description coupled with the required experience. Having all other complex documents is an added
advantage.

Ability to communicate effectively is another factor to be considered when seeking for job abroad, it is important to note that irrespective of your skilled qualifications, there is need to demonstrate your level of competence in communication in English, in most cases, most countries recommends writing of IELTS. Substantial years of work experience helps while seeking for a skilled job abroad, it makes an excellent addition to the job application. Work experience certificate will list the responsibilities, positions held and job completed while illustrating skills, competence and dedication. Employers prefer individuals with work experience since they understand the responsibilities and job ethics and do not require lengthy training sessions.

Additionally, your curriculum vitae is very important. You must update your CV and include your education, jobs, internships and any remarkable achievements. A CV should summarize a professional and educational qualifications allowing prospective employers to gauge your caliber.

Finally, after your job application, interview, document evaluation and other recruitment process are done, all statutory requirements for a work permit in your country of destination must have been met, then you proceed you to visa application. A visa is a legal immigration document that allow immigrants to move freely into another country. No matter how much you plan and organize, your dream of working abroad will ultimately hinge on a visa or work permit. Therefore, finding out what papers you will need to be able to legally work in another country and what you need to do to get these papers will be the first step. Make sure you understand that getting a skilled job or visa could take some time and might be financially draining.
